In October 2026, we took a small group of our students to Artrage Gallery to see an inspiring show: Katie Mulligan – No Man’s Land: Reimagining the Myth of Cicero Swamp. The gallery invited Kate Mulligan to join us, and we sat for close to an hour talking about her work and process, its mission, the importance of taking care of our lands and its creatures. All the children expressed their curiosity, knowledge, respect and insights. Our next step will be to consider an individual art project that celebrates Kate’s work and the critters who inhabit the Cicero swamp. Before leaving we asked each child to stand by their favorite piece of art!
