Students in grades 4-7 participated in Pixie Class. Pixie is a philosophical curriculum designed to encourage students to think critically about social topics. This year, as we read about Pixie, an elementary school student, interacting with her peers, teachers, sister, and parents, we discussed topics such as rules, laws, choices, actions, reactions, and respect. Within these student-led discussions they were learning how to communicate by listening, agreeing, and disagreeing respectfully. It allows students to develop their own thinking skills, reasoning skills, and opinions on philosophical topics. Students also learned about similes, metaphors, and analogies within the story.
